These files contain all the geothermal well information available at the Nevada Division of Minerals since they took over permitting such wells in 1985. NBMG files of wells drilled prior to that may be incomplete, and additional informational may be found at the Nevada Division of Water Resources, which permitted geothermal wells prior to 1985. This database is still under construction, and the information should be considered preliminary. It has not been edited or checked for completeness or accuracy and some fields have yet to be completely filled. Data base file maintained in PC-File Ver. 5.1. All of the fields below are included in a dBase III+ version of this file located at: http://www.nbmg.unr.edu/geothermal/mapfiles/nvgeowel.zip The attached list only includes selected fields for operator/well name, location, status, TD, etc. This was done to keep the listing to a reasonable length. ******************************************** FIELDS INCLUDED IN DATABASE API: American Petroleum Institute notation County: County name Permit: Permit number. Unprefixed numbers are from the Division of Minerals. Numbers prefixed with "DWR" are from the Division of Water Resources. Some of these numbers are suffixed with "PA", which means "project area". Numbers prefixed with "N" are a lease number and represent the only number designation in the file. Operator: Operator of well Well: Name of well S:, T:, R,: Location by Section, Township, Range, and Quarter Partsect: section. Distfromline: Distance and direction from nearest section line in feet. Permit_Issue: Date permit was issued. Compl_Date: Completion date of latest drilling. Some wells have been redrilled. Completion dates of any earlier drilling episodes are given in "Remarks". Status: Present status of the well. The designations for "Status" and "Class" are: A - Abandoned Commercial - Business use Domestic - Private use Expired - Permit expired without well being drilled Geothermal - Unclassified Gradient - Monitoring geothermal gradient Industrial - Usually power plant use Injection - Reinjects used fluid back into ground Observation - Monitoring geothermal fluids P&A - Plugged and abandoned Production - Brings fluids up for use Strat Test - Stratigraphic test Test - Unspecified test of underground conditions Class: Classification of well at time of permitting. TD: Total depth of well. Elevation: Ground elevation at well site: Tops: Depth to top of formations or other rock units. Analyses: Elements analysed for. Logs: Lithologic and electric logs and intervals. Samples: Well cuttings and core with intervals. Depth_Temp: Water temperation and depth temperature was taken. Some of these are expressed as the range between minimum and maximum temperatures and their depths. Remarks: Important aspects to be commented on. Conf: Whether or not well has information not included in database that has yet to be released. Most geothermal well information is kept confidential for 5 years after completion.
